SAC NEWS – Events
by Annie Mayo

The Summer months always start off with a busy December, but our bookings do tend to slow down over January and February.

Early in December, two Fairy Festival workshops were held in the magical Mill gardens. This was followed by an elaborate traditional Christmas lunch for 56 people held by the Armidale Probus Club. Annie Edwards was in charge of the catering, supported by the SAC team. The Probus Club have held several of their Christmas lunches with us, and wish to ‘do it again’ this year.

Armidale Choral Society returned for a delightful second performance to a small, but very appreciative audience.

Seniors from Uralla Tablelands Community Support loved their Christmas lunch provided by Erica Barwell and the SAC team. Thank you to Jo and Tina for your booking at the Mill.

Uralla Historical Society’s Christmas party for the volunteers was a bit different this year. Instead of a self-catered barbeque at the Mill, we were treated to a tasty selection of finger food at Michael’s Café which
the group of 25 volunteers thoroughly enjoyed.

January, though typically quiet, was visited by two “Fun Over 50” Coach Groups, who were very impressed with Cheryl Nolan’s dramatic and entertaining talk about the nine Thunderbolt paintings in the Mill.

On Australia Day evening – which was outrageously hot! – a birthday party was held for Lynn McClenahan.
Organised by her husband Greg, daughter Tara and son Trent and their families, Michael’s Café catered and I was lucky enough to attend this enjoyable event.

The Mill continues to be a popular venue for local community groups to hold their meetings.

Coming up – a group from South West Rocks, a Uralla Arts event (‘Life Drawing’ – 2 comedians) and most importantly, our very own International Women’s Day 2024 Exhibition Opening and Celebration Dinner. Complimentary champagne on arrival, three-course dinner, entertainment, and all for $50pp!
A great night, book early, don’t miss it!!

You would be most welcome to be part of the McCrossin’s Mill team, an important part of the Uralla community.
